Getting Started

So by now your probably thinking, “So how do I get hold of these things” and in fact, its surprisingly easy. The first thing you need is a wallet. Much like a real life wallet, this is where all of your currency will be stored. Now there are two ways to go about getting yourself a wallet.

  • First, you can download the Bitcoin client from the official Bitcoin website. This, in my opinion, is the best way to go about it. It supports Windows/Linux/Mac and has a wallet built in, along with the send/receive coins an address book functions. The link for this is http://www.bitcoin.org
  • The other way to go about getting yourself a wallet is to use an on-line wallet service. There are several of these around, I recommend using My Wallet. This is a browser based on-line  wallet, retaining many of the features of the standalone application but handily remaining on-line for use anywhere with a browser. Simply visit the site https://www.blockchain.info/wallet  and click “Create my free wallet”. Alternatively you can try a demo account on this site.
